Sessions Presents – Steve Angello

Label: Ministry Of Sound

Ministry of Sound releases in the past have always been a bit of patchy affair. Big on commercial gloss, big on names but hardly low on self-esteem. Recently though, the whole credibility of the label has been reanimated with last year’s first proper ‘Sessions’s album in years, ‘nastydirtysexmusic’, hot off the beaches of Ibiza and still cooking on arrival from London Heathrow. On that occasion, it was Smokin Jo & Tim Sheridan dishing all the dirt, this time round it’s that increasingly ubiquitous 23 year-old Swede, Steve Angello, one third of the upcoming Swedish House Mafia and accomplished masher of tracks for the likes of Mylo (‘In My Arms’), Eurythmics (‘Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This’) Roman Flugel (‘Geht’s Noch’) Moby  (‘Raining Again’) and Royksopp (‘49 Percent’).

Following a string of Tonging essentials on labels like Subliminal, Credence and his own Size Records, the Athens raised Angello has been doing alright for himself of late, earning a weekly residency at the Ministry of Sound and gaining a reputation as one of the fastest rising stars in house. So what better way to celebrate this marvellous stroke of luck than by releasing a fairly tasty 2-disc compilation of all your favourite Saturday mash-ups this side of Football Focus. Nathan Fake, Booka Shade, Royskopp, Moby, DJ Delicious, Yoshimoto, Guy Gerber, Till West, DJ Rooster & Sammy Paralta, Mad8, Who’s Who, Steve Lawler – they’re all packed in and pumping up jam like a gang of Robinson’s Jam Gollies on a sugar rampage.

Who says you should wait until Saturday comes?
