Overdrive – Aphrodite

Label: Feed Records

Some two years after Mickey Finn and Special K handled the last edit, Mickey Finn and Aphrodite’s boundary crossing, gangsta sampling ‘Bad Ass’ gets another welcome airing on the Aphrodite’s tempo shifting, genre jumping and acid dropping new album, ‘Overdrive’ out soon on Feed Records.

With this release, ‘King Of Beats’ and world-renowned drum ‘n’ bass master, Aphrodite this time turns the strobes on a mighty mixture of influences ranging from Hip Hop and Dub, to brass and bhangra, roping in a classic roster of names including Afrika Bambaata, robust Indian jungle hooligan, Stevie Hyper on the frisky, hyper space ride, ‘Can’t Stop’, the raving Special K, the unmistakably jump-up Benny Page plus the wacky curveball that is Aphrodite’s sexy collaboration with UK soul and R&B songbird bird, Beverley Knight on the curiously frazzled ‘Sometimes’.

A relentless 21-track collection of jump-up jungle beats and high energy indeed.
