Angel/Strawberry Message 44 (10″ Single) – 10 Inches Of Blue Eyed Soul

Label: Southern Fried

Apparently ‘Blue Eyed Soul’ is a catch-all-term to describe white performers playing black music. So consider, if you will, everything from sixties RnB, West Coast Hippy Chic, Miami soul, and northern soul. In fact, think just about everything from Elvis to Justin Timberlake, for that matter.

With the release of Elton John’s ‘Are You Ready For Love’ Southern Fried stumbled across something rather remarkable: white artists could produce great soul music when push came to shove. And what’s more, you could put together an album around this very premise.

This 10“ single release precedes a full album’s worth of ‘Blue Eyed Soul’ featuring some quality controlled classics: The Doobie Brothers, Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Dean Parrish, and Hall and Oates.

More obviously to follow when we’ve heard the full album. For now, you’ll just have to make do with a paltry 10 inches of pure blue eyed magic.
